Life gets messy, especially when you’re cooking. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had raw chicken juice on my hands and wished I didn’t have to touch the faucet handle. Or when I’ve tried to rinse dishes while juggling a pot and ended up making an even bigger mess! If you’ve been there, a smart kitchen sink might just be your saving grace.
Smart sinks can save you a ton of time thanks to features like touchless technology, voice activation, and water conservation. Want to see how a smart sink can level up your kitchen in 2025? In this blog, I’ll show you what makes a smart sink so great and some of my favorites for 2025.
What does a smart kitchen sink do?
We generally call something “smart” if it connects to the internet or works with a voice assistant, like Alexa or Siri—but you probably already knew that. These days, that sort of tech can be integrated into your kitchen sink, making it easier to wash veggies at the correct temperature, or rinse dishes with just a voice command.
Sounds pretty futuristic, no? Here are some other features you can expect from a smart sink:
Touchless sink technology
Ever tried to turn on the sink with dough-covered hands? Not fun. With a motion-activated faucet, I can keep my baking mess contained while still getting a quick rinse. Smart sinks often come with motion sensors that let you turn the water on and off without touching the faucet.
Temperature control
Another of my favorite smart kitchen sink features is precision temperature control. Many smart sink allow you to pre-set the water to your ideal temperature for rinsing dishes, fruits, or salads. Since the hot water in my apartment comes out near-boiling, it’s a huge help for me. I used to have to mix in cold water or wait for the sink to balance out, which took way longer than it should have. Now, I just set my ideal temp and get right to rinsing.
Water filtration
Some smart kitchen sinks have a separate faucet for filtered water—it’s hugely convenient for when you’re steaming rice, boiling veggies, or making soup. If your tap water isn’t suitable for cooking, this feature puts purified water at your fingertips.
Water conservation
I’m often suprised at just how much water I use to cook a meal. After I’ve scrubbed the vegetables, washed the dishes, and rinsed out the sink I see I’ve used far more than a sink full of water. Smart kitchen sinks, however, have built-in sensors that can minimize water waste. They conserve water while still letting you keep your kitchen clean.
