Patch 11.1 is just around the corner, expected to drop in late February or early March, which means you still have plenty of time to get ready for the arrival of The War Within Season 2.
Today, we’ll guide you through everything you need to do before the patch hits—what seasonal content to complete, which rewards to unlock before they’re gone, and what goals to set to ensure a smooth transition into Season 2. And if you want to make the process even easier, you can grab a WoW boost to fill any gaps, whether it’s gold, raid runs, Arena rating for mounts and transmog, or anything else you need to get ahead.
What You Should Do Before Season 2 Starts
Earn Seasonal Rewards and Achievements
The first thing you need to do is make sure to unlock the achievements and limited-time rewards tied to Season 1 before they’re gone. Here’s what you should aim for:
Mythic+ Rewards
The 2,000 rating will earn you the Keystone Master title and the Diamond Mechsuit mount.
The 2,500 rating unlocks the Keystone Hero title and the Luminous Nerubian Catalyst Stone, which lets you claim a Heroic piece of gear.
If you manage to get into the Top 0.1% in your region by the end of the season, you’ll secure the prestigious Tempered Hero title.
Nerub-ar Palace Raid
The raid also offers exclusive rewards that will disappear with the new season.Â
From Queen Ansurek, the raid’s last boss, you can get two mounts:Â
Ascendant Skyrazor, which only drops on Mythic difficulty,
Sureki Skyrazor, available on all difficulties but with an alternate color on Mythic.Â
You’ve also got the chance to earn the Ahead of the Curve achievement for conquering the raid on Heroic. This isn’t just for bragging rights, though—the achievement can actually help you get into stronger endgame groups since it shows that you have the skill and dedication needed to master the raid.
Zekvir’s Lair Delve
This season’s special delve, Zekvir’s Lair, will rotate out in Season 2, so make sure to complete it while you can to claim all the rewards and achievements it has to offer. Defeating Zekvir on the second tier gives you the Hunting the Hunter achievement and rewards you with the Ascension Breaker title. If you beat tier-two Zekvir solo, you’ll earn the Let Me Solo Him achievement and a Void appearance for your Delver’s Dirigible mount. Other Zekvir rewards include the Zekvir’s Raptorial Spine back piece and the Toxic Victory toy.
PvP Rewards
PvP seasonal rewards include various transmog items based on your rating. For example, hitting 1,000 rating gets you a cloak, 1,200 rating grants legs and braces, 2,100 rating awards a prestige cloak, and hitting 2,400 gets you a tabard. There are also two mounts up for grabs:
Vicious Skyflayer, earned by winning rated matches with a rating of 1,000 or higher.
Forged Gladiator’s Fel Bat that requires 50 wins at Gladiator rank.
As you can see, there are plenty of items and titles to go after, but luckily, you still have time to unlock them—so get to it!
Unlock +10 Mythic Portals
Completing any +10 pr higher Mythic dungeon unlocks a special spell that opens a direct portal to that dungeon. This drastically reduces travel time and makes organizing runs much easier. If you’re confident in Mythic+ and can push +10 keys but haven’t done so yet, here’s one more reason to take on the challenge.
Do Siren Isles Content
Added in Patch 11.0.7, Siren Isles is perfect for gearing up, offering an easy path to Veteran gear right from the get-go. Whether you’ve got alts you want to catch up on or your main has fallen behind, heading to Siren Isles is definitely something you’d want to do until Season 2 kicks off.
Gearing there is absurdly simple: you just complete quests and defeat monsters to earn Flame-Blessed Iron currency and spend it to buy gear from the vendor Argarom. This gear starts at ilvl 584 and can be upgraded to ilvl 606, giving your character a solid boost with minimal effort.
The biggest reason to visit Siren Isles is Cyrce’s Circlet, a powerful item you receive as a reward from the zone’s introductory quest. It comes at ilvl 639 by default, offering a massive jump in power for your character—especially since it’s basically handed to you for free. You can upgrade the ring further to ilvl 658 using Raw Singing Citrine obtained from the zone’s weekly quests. Fully upgrading the Circlet takes about six weeks, so you better start now.
Also, Cyrce’s Circlet has three slots for Citrine gems, which provide stat bonuses. To create the perfect gem combo, you’ll need all types of gems—these can be obtained by participating in Excavation Events on Siren Isles. Once you acquire a gem, it becomes available for purchase from one of the zone vendors: Apprentice Tanmar, Angoria, Didi the Wrench, or Taljori.
Stock Up on Valorstones
When the new season arrives, your old Valorstones will be reset, so your goal now isn’t to farm the Valorstones themselves but to collect the items that allow you to get them. We’re talking about Odd Glob of Wax and Lamplighter Supply Satchels. You can farm those items now but don’t use them just yet. Wait until the season begins, and only then turn in your wax and open those satchels to receive instant Valorstones and have a nice stockpile ready for gear upgrades.
Max Out Brann Bronzebeard
Brann will stay with us as a companion in Season 2, so having him maxed out at level 60 will ensure you get good loot right at the start of the new season. Even if his levels are reset with the new patch (which is highly unlikely), you’ll still be able to get great rewards in the current season. The higher Brann’s level, the better loot you’ll receive from your Delve runs. Plus, with a strong companion, you’ll find Delves much easier to complete since Brann will deal more damage and heal better.Â
We recommended focusing on Bountiful Delves—they give more XP, and the gear from the chests is much better. Higher-tier Delves provide more XP for Brann, which makes leveling much faster. Also, don’t miss the weekly Delves Bonus Event, which starts on January 21 and will grant bonus rewards for Delves, including a 25% experience buff for Brann.
Get Your Renown Rewards
In Season 2, the current Renown rewards will be retired, so make sure to grind those points now and max out your Renown with the current factions to claim all the loot you can before the reset. And don’t forget your alts—they’re a great way to get even more rewards.
Collect Tier Sets
Now’s the perfect time to finish assembling your tier sets before heading into Season 2. The most reliable way to get tier pieces is to run raids and gather gear there. However, if you still have Catalyst charges, you can use them as well—it’s even easier since the Catalyst allows you to turn any non-crafted Veteran+ item into a tier piece and you won’t even have to set foot in the raid.
Get the Most Out of Turbulent Timeways Event
This seven-week-long event is a fantastic way to gear up, prepare your alts for the new season, and fill any gear gap your character might have. Up until February 25, you can earn free Heroic ilvl 610-619 gear from quests every week. Completing the entire event will leave you with a full set of Heroic gear, already geared up enough to have a smooth start in Season 2. Also, during the event, you have a chance to obtain any piece of loot from the raid, including rare items like Mad Queen’s Mandate or Seal of the Poison Pact.
The event’s XP buff, Mastery of Timeways, offers insanely fast leveling, allowing you to go from 1 to 80 on a new alt in under 12 hours. If you earn the Mastery of Timeways buff for five or more weeks during the event, you’ll unlock a special achievement and the Timely Buzzbee mount.
